Matt is a theatrically trained, Jeff Award nominated, SAG-AFTRA actor based in the Chicagoland area. He has proudly been represented by Gray Talent Group for over 10 years.
His tv credits include co-star roles on 3 hit shows and one soon-to-come show! You can see his work on Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and a soon-to-air spin-off series. He’ll be shooting another co-star role on Fox’s Empire soon!
Matt also does film work. He played the supporting role of Paul in the SAG feature film Saugatuck Cures, which starred Max Adler, Judith Chapman, and Danny Mooney. It enjoyed a limited theatrical release in Spring, 2015 and is now available to stream online from Breaking Glass Pictures. He also has starring roles in several short films.
Matt has extensive experience in commercial-land. He has enjoyed being a part of regional and national commercials, including appearing as the Chicagoland host of the Walmart Challenge commercials in 2011 and getting real people to “pay with lovin'” in two McDonalds Super Bowl commercials in 2015. His credits include work for the Illinois Lotto, ExxonMobil, Sears, Qdoba, Jose Cuervo, Gordmans, Furthermore Proper Beer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, and ManCo Duck Tape.
Matt loves to do comedy as well! He played Tech Trends reporter Aaron Vaughn in comedic satire videos for The Onion for over 2 years until the series was eliminated after a change in ownership. All of the Aaron Vaughn Tech Trends videos can be seen on the Onion page of this site!
Matt’s most recent on-stage work was in Raven Theatre Company’s production of Red Velvet, in which he played Pierre LaPorte, the gay, entrepreneurial French manager of the Royal Theater of Covent Garden that decides to give his dear friend Ira Aldridge, an African American, the role of Othello during a time of race riots in 1830’s London. Before that, he was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson award for his portrayal of Chris Keller in Raven Theatre’s critically acclaimed and Jeff Recommended production of the Arthur Miller classic All My Sons. His other theatre credits include: Sons of the Prophet* by Steven Karam (TheatreSquared), columbinus by Steven Karam and the late P.J. Paparelli (Raven Theater Company), The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later by the Tectonic Theatre Project (Redtwist Theatre), Bang The Drum Slowly adapted by Eric Simonson (Raven Theatre Company), Storybox created by Jonathan Pitts (CIF/Piven Theatre Workshop), and others, including performing as an understudy in David Schwimmer’s gripping drama Trust* (Lookingglass Theater Company). Matt holds a BA in Theatre with honors from Lindenwood University and completed the Conservatory program at the Second City Training Center in 2005. He is fluent in Spanish and loves the unique challenges that come with auditioning and performing in another language. He is a quick study in dialect work and has experience with French, Irish, British, and Southern dialects. He also enjoys writing, carpentry, voice over, and is unafraid to admit his love for Star Wars and Daredevil.
